


He received a Rockerfeller grant to study with Yehudi Menuhin in Gstaad, where he founded thee International Menuhin Music Academy in 1977. As well as the competition, the association undertakes other activities such as concerts and masterclasses within the Gstaad region in the mountains of the Vaud and Bern cantons in Switzerland.īorn in 1935 to Ukrainian immigrants in Argentina, Lysy became the first South American prize winner at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1955.


It was created and launched by the Alberto Lysy Association in Château-d’Œx to promote young virtuosi from around the world, as well as commemorate the legacy of violinist Alberto Lysy. This year marks the competition’s second edition following its formation in 2020. Joint second prizes were awarded to Simon Zhu (Germany, 21), Mon-Fu Lee Hsu (Spain, 22) and Wassili Wohlgemuth (Germany, 22), who each received CHF 2,000 (£1,800). As part of his victory at the 2022 Carl Nielsen International Competition, Luts anticipates a solo recording with the Odense Symphony Orchestra for Orchid Classics and solo appearances with top Nordic orchestras. He is the winner of numerous competitions, including the International Competition ’Lviv Virtuoso’, the International Competition of Bohdan Varhal ’Talents for Europe’ and International Competition of Young Violinists in Poland, and has won prizes at the XVII Kocian International Violin Competition in Czech Republic, the Arthur Grumiaux International Violin Competition in Belgium, ’Il piccolo violino magico’ Violin Competition in Italy and the Lipizer International Violin Competition. He is currently a student at the International Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland in the class of Oleg Kaskiv, Guillaume Chilemme and Renaud Capuçon. Luts studied at the Kyiv State Music Lyceum in the class of Olga Korinets and at the Lviv State Music Lyceum in the class of Maria Futorska.
